Simona Fedele

1967, Udine (Italy)

Work...

Through her works, Simona Fedele analyzes the tremendous secret of the human solitude. Her images develop through introspective research of the subject. The coloured surface of her works is transmigration, a transfiguration of the secret pain of the spirit, where the artist shows us a little border between truth and fiction of the feelings.

Gauze is often used by the artist on canvas, overlapping the colours, as a symbol of vitality but also of dramaticism and expression of a deep emotional tension. The canvas is wounded, intentionally torn, reconstructed and torn again, nearly to emphasize, through these hurt figures, all the apprehension, the contradiction of existence.

About Simona Fedele

Simona Fedele was born in 1967 in Udine (Italy), where she lives and works.

Since she was a little girl, she has had a natural ability in drawing, using techniques such as painting in watercolours and carbon pencil. She was pushed by a natural instinct in matching all the colours and working out different shapes.

As she got older, she moved closer to her art and was more aware of art, thanks to her theoretical studies. On one hand she was enthusiastic to learn, but on the other she suffered, as she had to adapt herself to pictorial schemes to which she didn’t feel to belong. In fact, the freedom of her emotions is the predominating element in her works, as well as the violent voluptuousness of colour as expression of her mood.

In the first phase of her creative period, we mostly find figurative subjects. In the following years, her works were influenced by the studies of the Italian and European artistic figurative culture from the ‘500 until today; landscapes, still lifes, and sketches as experimentation of new techniques or themes. Her work has remarkable expressive character and moderated intensity, but with burning, warm, dense tones.

She has shown her work in various personal and collective exhibitions in Italy and Europe, receiving prizes and acknowledgments
